Ping Pong

If you’re a ping pong fan, you could check out the new movie “Balls of Fury.” But I think you might enjoy watching the 2002 film, “Ping Pong” instead. The movie is about two friends on the high school ping pong team. Peko has a dream of becoming a champion ping pong player, while his buddy Smile wants to play for fun. The film introduces Shido Nakamura—one of Japan’s best young talents—and includes the scene stealing veteran actor, Naoto Takenaka. The movie is based on a manga by Matsumoto Taiyo.
SIDEBAR: The Japanese word for ping pong is “takkyu.”
