The Legend of Ultraman

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the creation of Ultraman, Japan’s ultimate defender from a horde of kaiju—super-sized world-gobbling space monsters. 

Ultraman fans need only take a visit to the Taro Okamoto Museum in Kawasaki for a nostalgic retrospective of the art and science behind the silver masked one. 

Read up on the exhibit at Metropolis.  The exhibit runs until Sept. 24, 2006.  It will travel and next be seen at the Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum in Hiroshima from Oct. 18 - Nov. 19.

By the way, over the summer, there was an Ultraman Festival at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Tokyo commermorating the 40th anniversary.  Here’s some photos of the exhibit from a Japanese blog.
