Hello Kitty Maneki-Neko

For one week only the Mitsukoshi Department store in Tokyo (Nihonbashi store) is having a special fair called “Hello Kitty Selection”.  Special items on sale include a Hello Kitty Barbie (5,040 yen or about $43), a Swarovski encrusted Hello Kitty dog house (3,900,000 yen or about $34,000) and other luxury Kitty goods.  The centerpiece of the event is a giant Hello Kitty maneki-neko (good fortune cat) also covered with Swarovski crystals, 62,000 of them to be exact!  The maneki-neko is valued at eight million yen (about seven-gees!).

Hello Kitty Selection will be touring various department stores in Japan through the summer.
