Tokyo Hardcore Collection

Earrings with dangling skulls and strawberries, necklaces dripped in Swarovski crystals, Pink Head Hello Kitty bracelets, and super-sized lucite heart barrettes.  These are some of the out-of-this-world accessories from the imagination of Tarina Tarantino.  Her jewelry can be spotted gracing some of Hollywood’s elite.

The LA-based jewelry designer recently debuted her Tokyo Hardcore Collection, a line inspired Harajuku girls and Tokyo android-punk.

This is not a rip-off of Japanese fashion, this is an evolution--from the streets of Tokyo to the bright lights of Hollywood.  Tarina incorporates bright neon baubles, Swarovski crystals, and kokeshi motifs in a line designed to dazzle.  Some of her touches explore Japan’s fascinating gothic lolita subculture by playing with white lace and black bows.

An interesting addition is the Tokyo Hardcore Collection Book made with Davey Havok and Jeffree Star.  The fashion photo book features Tarino Tarantino accessories around a story of love, fame and murder.

Tarina Tarantino’s connection to Japan is nothing new.  In the past she collaborated with Sanrio to create Pink Head Hello Kitty, a Hello Kitty wearing Tarina’s trademark bright pink wig.
