Kobo at Higo in Seattle

Kobo is a store done right.

What started as a Pacific Northwest art collective is now a two-store operation with gallery space, hand-crafted home furnishings, Japanese knick-knacks and more.

The second Kobo store is located in downtown Seattle’s International District in the location formerly know as Higo Variety Store.  What we love about Kobo is how instead of erasing the past, the new store incorporates the history of the community into its design.  In the store front, you can still see the original Higo store sign and inside, there is a counter display of original goods from years gone by.

Stop by the International District or the original Kobo store on Capitol Hill and pick up a nice tea set, some colorful textiles or some original art.  You just never know what treasure you’re going to find.  And in my personal plea, please shop at stores like Kobo and support small businesses with a heart!

Sidebar: On your visit to Kobo in Seattle’s International District, make sure to also visit the Wing Luke Museum and have some tea at the historic Panama Hotel (located just up the hill from Kobo).
